It's happening again! Austin Geo Bash 2018 is on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018, and you're invited to take part in the festivities. This is the Austin geo-community's annual holiday happy hour and charity drive: Geo Bash is for anyone and everyone in (or near!) Austin who works with, loves, or is learning about all things GEOSPATIAL.
Â
This year's Geo Bash will be located at BD Riley's on 6th Street, following URISA's Leadership Academy activities.Â
Â
Attending Geo Bash is FREE, but as always, we encourage attendees to bring a donation for one or all of these charities: The SAFE Alliance, the Central Texas Food Bank, and Austin Creative Reuse.
We will also be collecting donations for Danny Santos from the Austin Police Department. Danny is a Crime Analyst Supervisor, a father of four and has been a fixture in the GIS community for nearly 20 years. Since August, he has been dealing with a significant medical issue, been through surgery and various ongoing therapies to treat his condition. Danny was recently hospitalized with pneumonia and his hospitalization is putting even more strain on his family's resources. Any donation would be appreciated and used to offset his medical costs or support his family. Donations and well wishes can be sent via Paypal to Sara Davis (GIS Analyst at APD) at davis.sara.n@gmail.com until December 12th.
Funds will be sent directly to your selected charity’s PayPal account through PayPal Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which will grant the funds to your chosen charity.
PayPal Giving Fund delivers the funds on a monthly basis, near the 25th of the month, and typically within 15-45 days of the original donation (or 90 days if the charity has not yet enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund). If, after reasonable efforts, they cannot deliver donations to a charity, the funds may be donated to another charity per their policies
Donors will donate to Paypal Giving Fund, which will provide their tax receipts.
Â
All geo-people and their guests are welcome: there will be plenty of geofood, geofun and geofriends, so join us!
